Happy Tails opened in 2016 and was one of the first doggy day care centres in the UK. Our 4-acre fenced site set within 118 acres of farmland offers a safe, secure, and loving environment for dogs to socialise, play have cuddles and have lunch whilst their owners are busy at work.
Covid was a two-edge sword for Happy Tails, we were immediately impacted with a closure and a 50% reduction in demand for day care after re-opening from lockdown. Through hard work, sweat and tears we rebuilt the business just in time for a huge surge in dog ownership which took place with lockdown puppies. Without Covid lockdowns, the increase in UK dog ownership would never have happened, and this has caused a huge increase in demand for our services.
We had to restructure and reinvest in the business but demand outstripped resources. With the funding of £9,625 we have received we were able to invest in a brand-new style of vehicle, with additional capacity to grow the business and increase our colleague head count. The vehicle is of our own design and benchmarks the future for the business in term of transportation. With the increased income generated, we will be able to self-fund new vehicles which are 50% more productive than our current fleet.

With the help and support of South East Business Boost Grant we have been able to increase our vehicle fleet and service more customers which in turn will help secure the businesses future. The guidance and advice you receive during the application process is amazing. If you’re able to apply for funding, then I can think of no reason why you wouldn’t.
